China’s CNOOC International and its partners, including France's Total have unearthed what is being hailed as the largest natural gas discovery off the UK in past 10 years, with the Glengorm well coming in at the top of pre-drill estimates.

The partners in licence P2215 in the central North Sea will now turn to appraising the discovery, which Total estimated could hold recoverable resources of almost 250 million barrels of oil equivalent, with tie-back as well as standalone development options all likely to be on the table.
