Industry sources said Altra will be responsible for topsides front-end engineering and design work while SLP will handle FEED studies on the jacket.
The deck is expected to weigh about 2000 tonnes while the sub-structure will tip the scales at about 4500 tonnes, excluding piles.
Apache’s new platform, which will be bridge-linked to the existing Forties Alpha installation, is likely to be built at SLP Group’s Wallsend yard in Newcastle, previously owned by Amec.
