Teething problems and misunderstandings have been blamed for slower than expected progress by the UK offshore safety authorities in assessing North Sea installation safety cases required under new European safety legislation.
About 300 safety cases have to be assessed by the Offshore Safety Directive Regulator (OSDR) following the introduction of new regulations in July under the European Union offshore safety directive.
