A meeting organised last week in Aberdeen by officials from the UK Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) was attended by UK and Norwegian fabricators and several North Sea operators.
DECC deputy director Bill Cattanach told Upstream he hoped new ways of doing business can be found to address operators’ concerns that, individually, UK yards now lack the financial strength, technical capabilities and the necessary track record to handle bigger offshore projects.
