Ukrainian gas pipeline operator Ukrtransgaz has suggested that European companies start storing volumes in the country’s vast underground storage facilities as soon as this spring, to help ease any shocks from the potential halt in Russian supplies transiting Ukraine next winter.
The state-controlled company said it has an estimated unused capacity of 12 billion cubic metres in 11 storage locations in the west of the country, with a maximum outflow rate of 260 million cubic metres per day.
