September quarter natural gas production rose 35% from the June quarter to a total of 177.35 billion cubic feet, compensating for a 3% fall in output to 21.8 million barrels.
Output during the June quarter totaled 21.3 million barrels of oil and 131.8 billion cubic feet of natural gas.
In an announcement, BHP said the higher natural gas production in September represented a full quarter of production from its Angostura gas phase II project, offshore Trinidad and Tobago, and 40 days of production from its Petrohawk assets.
