US natural gas prices have see-sawed up and down as alternately record warm and record cold weather has upended the traditional injection and withdrawal seasons and muddied underlying market fundamentals.
Overall, US natural gas production has averaged between 70 billion and 71 billion cubic feet per day. However, that total is down about 2.4 Bcfd over the course of 2016 as companies pulled back on their drilling in the US shale plays, according to data from consultancy Bentek.
