Red Willow is managed by the Southern Ute Indian Tribe Growth Fund and the drilling programme will be the first time the Southern Ute-owned company has teamed up with the Ute Mountain Ute Indian tribe to explore for oil.
Red Willow has spudded one well, Marble Wash 9-2, based on a seismic campaign, but it is not yet clear if the find is commercial.
