EOR could be implemented by adding modules onto existing production units to handle chemical or water injection into the reservoirs.

Water Standard’s senior vice president for the project, Jim Wodehouse, said there is an increased need for dedicated stand­alone EOR vessels especially for chemical EOR projects, which require more space and weight to accommodate chemical mixing and storage equipment.

Wodehouse sees a demand for leased chemically enhanced oil recovery vessels to go on contracts for three to five years at producing oil and gas fields.
