Malaysian oil and gas company Vestigo Petroleum is embarking on a new shallow-water field development in keeping with its role as a marginal field specialist.

It is understood the field being developed is called Irong, and it is located off Peninsular Malaysia.

However, project details are thin given that Vestigo is a subsidiary of Malaysian national oil company Petronas.

Sources said Vestigo is in the market for offshore pipelay work planned for the second half of this year.
