Latin America-focused Vista Oil & Gas has become the second-largest shale oil producer in the prolific Vaca Muerta formation in Argentina's Neuquen basin, driven by strong performance at its Bajada del Palo Oeste field, writes Fabio Palmigiani.

The company, led by the former head of Argentina’s state giant YPF Miguel Galuccio, produced about 32,800 barrels of oil equivalent per day in August from both conventional and unconventional targets, up 15% from 28,500 boepd in July.
