German operator VNG is approaching the moment of truth at its Boomerang wildcat in the North Sea, the first of two explor­tion wells near last year’s Pil and Bue oil discoveries.

Boomerang and the subsequent Blink probe are set to determine whether Pil and Bue could become a standalone development.

At the moment, the 80 million and 200 million barrels of oil equivalent found last year make a tie-back solution to the Njord or Draugen platforms the most likely option.
