The German explorer hit about 18 metres of hydrocarbon pay in reservoir rocks at the Bue prospect, just north of the Pil discovery.
The sidetrack well, spudded in June, was drilled to a depth of 3656 metres and tested objectives in the Middle and Upper Jurassic reservoirs in the Bue prospect.
The operator estimated that the discovery contained between 6 million and 25 million boe recoverable.
