North-West Shelf operator Woodside Petroleum has spudded an exploration well in WA-28-P, off Western Australia.
Woodside chief executive Peter Coleman confirmed last week that drilling has started on the Achernar exploration well.
“The rig is actually on location right now,” Coleman said. “That well is in the very early stages of its drilling campaign.”
While Coleman said Woodside does not currently have any other exploration wells planned off Australia for the remainder of the year, it has environmental approval to drill up to six wells in WA-28-P.
