Most hearings before the US Congress get little attention outside of journalists and policy experts.
However, the latest House debate over drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge drew scores of viewers after a shouting match between a representative from Alaska and an expert witness.
Representative Don Young called Rice University professor Douglass Brinkley’s testimony “garbage” and mistakenly referred to him as “Dr Rice” during a hearing in which Brinkley supported greater protection for the refuge.
