Chevron has sanctioned a waterflood project at its St Malo field in the deep-water Gulf of Mexico, its next step to boost output in the reservoir.
The project is the first of its kind to be carried out by the US supermajor in the Wilcox trend, and could contribute an estimated ultimate recovery of over 175 million barrels of oil equivalent.
