The drilling job awarded to Weatherford involves two contracts for five and six wells, sources in Baghdad said.
Petronas and Japex have separately selected an EPC contractor from a list of four bidders including Weatherford and also comprising Petrofac with JGC Corporation, Saipem and Punj Lloyd.
Sources said the winner of the EPC job, thought to be worth about $300 million, is either the Petrofac-JGC partnership or Weatherford.
