West Azeri, which was producing about 129,000 barrels per day and is one of six production platforms in Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli oil complex, will be shut in for about three weeks, said BP.
In October and November this year, a platform at the Chirag field, the oldest production facility in the ACG complex, will also be shut in for maintenance work.
Daily oil production from ACG is forecast by the operator to average 605,000 bpd this year, although sources said actual production will be 625,000 to 630,000 bpd.
