Ottawa authorities have provisionally approved an application to use the survey vessel Western Patriot for the work, which is due to take place between 1 July and 31 October.
The vessel is expected to gather between 2000 and 2500 kilo-metres of 3D data in the Canadian sector of the Beaufort Sea. The shoot may be carried out for Imperial Oil, which had planned to do a 3D survey this summer on exploration licence 466, where water depths range from 60 to 1200 metres.
