Brazil's Petrobras has put in motion a plan to carry out wildcatting in Pernambuco-Paraiba, the country's last virgin offshore basin, writes Fabio Palmigiani.

Upstream has learned that Petrobras has mapped three drilling locations at its two exploration blocks in Pernambuco-Paraiba, with the potential campaign possibly taking place over the next few years.

Petrobras acquired blocks BM-PEPB-1 and BM-PEPB-3 in 2007 in the country’s ninth licensing round, and the following year acquired 2721 square kilometres of 3D seismic over the acreage, with geochemical anomalies indicating the presence of an active petroleum system.
