Wintershall Noordzee has been reprimanded by the UK safety regulator for failures in handling flammable substances in process equipment at the Wingate gas platform in the southern North Sea, writes Rob Watts.
Health & Safety Executive (HSE) inspectors found that integrity testing of process plant had been carried out using hydrocarbons, rather than with an inert fluid, and without appropriate control measures being in place.
