German operator Wintershall is facing major reservoir challenges at its Maria field off Norway, with industry sources warning that recovery will never get close to the 180 million barrels of oil targeted when its plan for development and operation was first submitted.
Some sources said the original development solution that Wintershall pursued would only have allowed the operator to produce about 10% of that 180 million barrel total.
