Woodside has the 1982-built semi-submersible Atwood Eagle on hire until September of this year at a dayrate of $450,000.
However, the two companies have agreed to exchange the Atwood Eagle with the Atwood Osprey, which is a 2011-generation semi-submersible capable of operating in water depths of up to 8200 feet, more than 3000 feet deeper than the Eagle.
Chevron currently has the Osprey on contract until May 2016 at a comparable dayrate of $445,000.
