The deep-water Laverda, Cimatti and Opel oil discoveries were previously the bedrock of a new standalone oil development until Woodside brought the project to a halt in December 2013 citing “commercial challenges”.

At that time, the Australian operator had taken the discoveries through a pre-front end engineering and design study courtesy of WorleyParsons subsidiary IntecSea Engineering.

Before the project being put on hold, Woodside had been looking at either a standalone FPSO or a semi-submersible production unit, or a combination of both.

However,
