The Alliance Engineering-designed production deck is being fabricated at Kiewit Offshore Services in Ingleside, Texas, and is currently envisaged having a dry weight of 11,250 short tons and operating payload of 18,250 short tons.
Sources indicate the weight budget for the topsides will be increasingly important as the project advances.
The nature of the installation plan for the deck, which currently is envisaged as a single lift, could run contrary to Shell's tendency to "gold plate" its facilities.
