Indonesia’s state-owned oil company Pertamina has broken ground on its giant $1.55 billion Jambaran-Tiung Biru (JTB) onshore gas condensate development in Java.

Work on the engineering, procurement and construction contract will be carried out by Japan Gas Corporation in partnership with local contractor Rekayasa Industri, with about 6000 workers expected to be needed for the construction phase.

JTB will be exploited via a gas processing facility with an initial six wells tied back to it, while the produced hydrocarbon liquids are expected to flow via pipeline to ExxonMobil’s nearby Banyu Urip facilities for further processing.
