OMV expects there to be a need for early remedial work on the field to maintain production rates projected to peak at 35,000 barrels per day and a workover rig placed on the field's wellhead platform would enable this.
Atwood Oceanics, KCA Deutag, Nabors Industries and Pride International are all understood to be thinking of participation in this tender.
OMV would like to install the platform rig in 2007 and have it operational by the completion of development drilling at Maari.
