Australian contractor WorleyParsons has acquired several units of US group Jacobs Engineering in a US$3.3 billion deal designed to expand its engineering services unit and boost its geographical exposure.
Under the deal, consisting of US$2.6 billion in cash and US$700 million worth of ordinary shares in Sydney-based WorleyParsons, Jacobs will sell off its energy, chemicals and resources segments.
Upon closing the deal, Dallas-based Jacobs will own 11% of WorleyParsons.
