Norway’s naval top brass were wringing their hands in despair when one of their prized frigates ran into an oil tanker in a farcical collision late last year — but offshore yard Semco Maritime is rubbing its mitts after winning a lucrative salvage job for the vessel.

The accident occurred when the munitions-laden warship Helge Ingstad collided with tanker Sola TS as the latter was departing the Equinor-operated Sture oil terminal last November following an apparent comedy of errors on the bridge of the Nkr5 billion ($578 million) frigate that eventually turned it into a shipwreck.
