The agreement calls for the supply of 3 million tonnes per annum of LNG for a period of 20 years by Yamal LNG, the operator of the South Tambei gas field on Russia’s Yamal Peninsula.
LNG will be supplied to a pre-defined transportation point in Europe by a fleet of 15 or 16 specially built ice-class LNG carriers that are capable of operating in seas with thick ice cover.
