Argentina’s state-owned YPF has signed a multi-year deal with Norwegian company Archer’s division DLS Archer for drilling rigs in the country’s prolific Vaca Muerta shale player.
The state giant has signed on for five years a trio of high-specification drilling units that it already has on hire in the Vaca Muerta, Neuquen province.
As part of the deal, the three rigs will undergo upgrade work to make them even more high-spec, while the contract also stipulates that two further upgrades may be carried out during the course of the contract.
