The $250 million DSS 20 rig has been assembled at the Baku yard of Keppel subsidiary Caspian Shipyard Company (CSC), from where it should be towed out in September to drill the first exploration well for supermajor ExxonMobil on the Zafar Mashal contract area.
The Lider will be completed just inside the target set for its construction when the contract was awarded to Keppel in February 2001, despite a series of logistical issues that threatened the timetable.
