Mexico is in the final stages of assembling its unitisation framework for hydrocarbon discoveries following landmark energy reforms.
And the new system could soon be put to use with the Zama-1 find, the first pure exploration discovery made by a non-state operator in modern Mexico.
The unitisation guidelines began a public comment period last week and are set to come into effect as soon as next month once the review process is complete, according to Deputy Undersecretary of Hydrocarbons Aldo Flores Quiroga.
