A pre-unitisation agreement between a Talos Energy-led consortium and state-led oil company Pemex covering the area surrounding the Zama discovery is expected to be approved shortly by Mexico’s Energy Ministry, writes Kathrine Schmidt.

The agreement presented by the two companies provides basic information about the area characteristics and officially raises the possibility that the find could overlap two blocks, said Fausto Alvarez, head of the E&P Compliance unit for Mexico’s National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH).
