It has opened up a new Lower and Middle Miocene carbonate play that could extend into Cypriot waters and perhaps also into Israel.
According to a recent presentation by seismic player Spectrum’s executive vice president for geoscience, Neil Hodgson, a number of Zohr lookalikes have been mapped around the Eratosthenes seamount or carbonate platform — located entirely in Cypriot waters north of Eni’s discovery — particularly in Total’s blocks 10 and 11.
