Chinese yard Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC) has embarked on a new strategy to own and operate offshore facilities abandoned by foreign owners or managers.
In one example, the company this month registered a single purpose company for the ZPMC Pelagic, a single DP3 vessel initially ordered on speculation by Bermuda-registered player Toisa in 2014.
The new company, which is also called ZPMC Pelagic, is being incorporated in Shanghai with the task of owning and operating the unit, which comes complete with a 24-man twin bell saturation diving system, two knuckle boom cranes and 1850 square metres of deck space.
