The company has recently changed its name to Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry, but will continue to use its former acronym ZPMC. It has established a research centre with a focus on design work for offshore projects, such as jack-up rigs and deep-water pipelay vessels.
The company will spend up to $2.2 billion over the next three years to expand two yards in Shanghai and Nantong.
