French supermajor Total is battling a downhole well-control problem at its high-pressure, high-temperature Elgin-Franklin field in the UK central North Sea.
A Total spokesman confirmed to Upstream the company has “encountered difficulties whilst drilling a well” on the Central Graben field, though no gas has escaped to the atmosphere.
