Mexico’s Pemex takes over the reins of large FPSO
Floater had been working under a 15-year lease agreement between Pemex and BW Offshore
Mexican national oil company Pemex has taken over the ownership and operation of the floating production, storage and offloading vessel at the Kuu-Maloob-Zaap field offshore Mexico.
Norwegian FPSO company BW Offshore (BWO) said that, with effect from 22 July 2022, Pemex had assumed the ownership and operation of the Yuum KakNaab FPSO in accordance with the terms of the 15-year contract that began in 2007 between Pemex and BWO.
“Following the transfer, BW Offshore has no obligation to provide further operational services to Pemex,” the company said.
The turret-moored floater has processing capacity of 200,000 barrels per day of oil and 120 million cubic feet per day of gas; it can store 2.2 million barrels of oil.
